There are all sorts of activities taking place across North Tyneside for families to get involved in.

'Lighten Up' weight management programme
Lighten Up is a 12 week lifestyle intervention programme that focuses on helping to change a person's attitude and behaviour towards their health as well as encouraging physical activity and a healthy diet. Healthy 4 life
A series of exciting after-school clubs will be running for ten weeks across North Tyneside to help children and young people learn to make positive lifestyle changes, with a range of fun activities, such as trampolining, team games and 'invasion' games.
Clubs are for: children aged 7-14 (must attend with a parent or carer). Limited early years programmes and support may also be available in your area.

Healthy walks scheme
The healthy walks scheme encourages people to get out in the fresh air and enjoy a walk in their local area. Qualified front and back leaders ensure that walkers are safe and walking at a comfortable pace. The walks are a great opportunity to improve physical and mental wellbeing in the beautiful environment of North Tyneside. Physical activity co-ordinators
Physical activity co-ordinators organise a range of events to get people to be more active in the borough such as Stride out to the Lighthouse and Million Mile challenge. If you would like to know more about current activities please ring 0191 6437442 or 0191 6437441.
Healthy living centres
Healthy living centres are aimed at encouraging people who may not traditionally think about exercising in a gym, to try out facilities and equipment in a supported environment. This includes people with disabilities, pensioners, people with breathing or heart problems and patients with other health problems. There are four healthy living centres across North Tyneside.
