North Tyneside alcohol strategy
Did you know?
* 48% of men and 25% of women in the North East exceed the daily recommended drinking limits.
* The North East has a higher rate of alcohol related poor health among men and women than the rest of England.
The North Tyneside alcohol reduction strategy and action plan was developed by the North East strategic partnership to act as a catalyst to reduce the harm caused by alcohol and to promote a healthy drinking culture across North Tyneside. The strategy describes how partner organisations within the borough will work together to acheive this.
The action plan focuses on three broad objectives, prevention, treatment and control. These objectives will direct alcohol harm reduction work across North Tyneside throughout the lifetime of the three year strategy.
- Prevention - promotion of sensible drinking, decrease alcohol consumption
- Treatment - ensuring services are provided to support and treat hazardous, harmful and dependent drinkers and their families and carers
- Control - promotion of public protection through law and policy enforcement
You can dowload the strategy in full, as well as the evidence based review, which informed the development of the strategy.
