Tissue viability

The tissue viability service delivers education and training on all aspects of wound management. Advice is given on the prevention (where appropriate) and management of all types of wounds, including leg ulcers and pressure ulcers. Specialist nurses who have extensive knowledge and expertise in this area provide this valuable service. The team is available to provide clinical support and to take referrals from any ward or department within the Trust.

How can I access the service?

Referrals are accepted from:

  • district nursing teams
  • medical and nursing staff
  • GPs and practice nurses
  • nursing home staff

Any other member of the healthcare team may also refer a patient however this should be done through the named nurse or doctor in-charge of the patient's care.
