Teenage pregnancy support team
The teenage pregnancy support team works with young parents and parents-to-be throughout North Tyneside. The services the team offers include:
- Support both before and after the baby is born (antenatal and post natal support)
- Information and support on the options available to mums to be for feeding their baby - both breastfeeding and bottle feeding. Breasfeeding support is also available in the early period after the baby is born.
- Emotional support
- Individual or group support
- Contraception planning
- Childcare choices
- Care to Learn - giving young parents under 20 who want to study access to childcare support of up to £160 per week.
- Maternity right and benefits
- Housing advice
- Education and training choices
Other services include advice or access to:
- Pregnancy decision making
- Contraception
- Sexual health services
- Connexions and other youth services
How can I access the service?
Any young person under the age of 20 can contact the service directly to access help and support. The teenage pregnancy support team can be contacted on 0191 297 0441.
Referrals are also accepted from all agencies working with young parents and parents to be in North Tyneside.
The teenage pregnancy support team will refer people to other agencies if it is appropriate and when further services are needed.
