Condom (C) Card
The North Tyneside C-Card scheme is a totally free service offering free condoms and sexual health information to all young people in North Tyneside.
How do I get a C - Card?
To join the C-Card scheme all you have to do is visit one of the C Card outlets in North Tyneside and have a chat with a C-Card issuer.
They will tell you a bit more about how the C-Card works, assess that it is appropriate for you and give you some further sexual health information. Then, if you're up for it they will sign you up and give you a card that can be used at outlets across North Tyneside.
You will then be:
- Shown the different types of condoms you can get with the C-Card.
- Shown how to use a condom correctly.
- Given some information about sexually transmitted infections, unplanned pregnancy and how to avoid them.
- Given advice so you know what to do and where to go if your condom splits or you didn’t use one.
- Informed about where else you can go to get free condoms and talk about other sexual health services.
- Given the chance to ask the C-Card issuer any questions you may have about sex and relationships.
All you will be asked for is your age and your postcode - this information is confidential.
A full list of all the places you can get C-Cards, free condoms and sexual health advice is available to download. The list also contains contact details for all the clinics and health centres in the local area.
By joining the C-Card scheme you can be sure that you are getting help and support from people who are experienced in talking about sex and condoms – they won’t be embarrassed so you don’t need to be either!
