Day hospice

North Tyneside Primary Care Trust's (PCT) day hospice service provides day care and support to patients and their carers living with a life limiting illness. Examples of life limiting illnesses include: cancer, dementia, stroke, Alzheimers disease and liver disease.

We provide an environment where patients have the opportunity to discuss any problems or worries they may have and have their symptoms assessed by qualified staff. We also offer complementary therapies and social activities such as outings and arts and crafts days. The day hospice is based at Sir GB Hunter Memorial Hospital in Wallsend.

How can I access the service?

Patients can access the service via referral from any health care professional including their GP, district nurse, health visitor or hospital doctor.
