Continence service

* It's estimated that 3 million people in Great Britain have continence problems with only 10% seeking help

* Continence problems are common and effect people of all ages

About the service

North Tyneside Primary Care Trust's continence service provides assessment for both children and adults with bladder or bowel needs. Many people have bladder or bowel needs and are not sure how to access help.

Incontinence can have devastating social consequences on those affected and their carers and this can result in psychological and social problems. Incontinence is not a disease, but a symptom of an underlying cause. With the right care incontinence is often cured, improved or better managed to help the individual to retain dignity and independence.

The continence service aims to help and support patients as much as possible whilst they are dealing with incontinence.

We also run the home delivery service which provides continence products direct to patients homes.
