Equality impact assessments

North Tyneside Primary Care Trust (PCT) is required to publish the outcomes of equality impact assessments (EIAs) we have undertaken.

Equality impact assessments are a way of both making sure that our policies and the way we deliver our services do not disadvantage people from certain groups, and also a way of identifying where we might better promote equality of opportunity.

North Tyneside PCT’s approach to equality impact assessment is to systematically analyse our services/functions, policies, procedures and practices to identify what effect, or likely effect, they will have on different groups in the community.

The equality groups we have identified cover the following areas: disability, race, religion/beliefs, gender, age and sexual orientation.

Conducting an equality impact assessment involves gathering information, talking to people from different groups about their experiences, and making decisions about how services and policies impact on them. It then requires action to be taken to reduce any areas of negative impact and to build on areas of neutral or positive impact where appropriate.

Equality impact assessed policies

The following policies have been impact assessed with staff who have knowledge and experience of equality and diversity along with staff who have knowledge of the subject matter contained within each policy.
