Equality and diversity
North Tyneside Primary Care Trust (PCT) is committed to delivering equality of opportunity for all staff and service users. Our aim is to attract, secure and develop a workforce at all levels that reflects the diversity of the community we serve.
Our vision, principles and outcomes aim to ensure that all people have the same opportunities to access the best possible health services, and are treated with dignity and respect. Irrespective of race, religion, disability, gender, age or sexuality, health outcomes should be the best they can possibly be.
Our work plan reflects what needs to be in place to meet these sentiments i.e. staff training, impact assessments of all policies, procedures and functions, embedding equality and diversity principles and ethos in all that we do within the organisation.
North Tyneside PCT welcomes the views and contributions of interested groups that will influence the action plans within the equality schemes. Progress on the equality schemes will be reviewed by the trust board on an annual basis with regular submission of reports.
Regional staff network groups, hosted by the strategic health authority, provide an opportunity for staff who share one of more aspects of their identity such as their gender, sexual orientation, race and disability status, to communicate, network, meet and support each other.
